In this two-hour workshop, Josh will explore how Yin Yoga collaborates with the holistic functions of the Chinese Spleen to support the healthy production and harmonization of Qi and Blood (vital energy). Although Yin Yoga’s impact on the Chinese Spleen’s functioning is more indirect than some of the other organ systems, Yin Yoga nonetheless does support healthy Spleen functioning from both Eastern and Western perspectives.
In Chinese Medicine, the Spleen is the “root” of our Qi. The Spleen oversees the production of Qi as well as controls our capacity for clear thinking. If the Spleen’s Qi is weak, common symptoms include fatigue, low energy, and anxiety. Calming the Spleen with Yin Yoga is a great way to strengthen our energy and calm our minds.
The workshop is suitable for all levels and will include breathwork (pranayama), as well as a Yin Yoga practice sequence.
What is Yin Yoga?
In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deeper layers of connective tissue in the body.
Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, as well as decreases inflammation and improves hydration of the connective tissue. Energetically, Yin Yoga stimulates the body’s channel system of subtle energy, enhancing energetic flow and supporting emotional equilibrium. Yin Yoga also prepares both the body and mind for meditation.
Josh Summers has been practicing and teaching Yin Yoga for nearly two decades. As a licensed acupuncturist and long-time meditator, Josh infuses his teaching with insight and wisdom from Chinese Medicine, Taoism and Buddhism.
All participants will receive lifetime access to this recorded workshop. We will send you a follow up email after the workshop has taken place that will give you access.
