What Limits My Movement? Tension and Compression

In this lesson, I’ll share an important key to understanding movement. I’ll discuss what kinds of dynamics stop you when you try to move in a certain direction. Sometimes you’ll stop because you have tension in your soft tissues, and we call that resistance “tension.” But sometimes you’ll stop because your bones are bumping into each other, and we call that resistance “compression.” Understanding the difference between tension and compression greatly influences how you will consider aligning yourself in a posture.
