Hi Josh. My name is Amber Gregory and I did a Yin Meditation workshop with you at Studio 143 a couple of years back. I remember you discussing the Perch method and what is stood for but wanted to share this with my upcoming 200 hour trainees and cannot remember what the “H” stood for?
Perch, Explore, Receptive, Choice, ….
I cannot find my notes on this and was wondering if you could remind me?
Hi Amber,
Good question The Perch is just part of the suggested methodology, and I hadn’t turned PERCH into a practice acronym, although you certainly could expand it that way. The core principles are 1)knowing the intention of the practice 2) establishing a Perch or two 3) cultivating Receptivity and 4) encouraging Permission to choose how to navigate the content of practice (staying with it, redirecting back to the Perch or implementing other techniques/practices). Hope that’s helpful and all best wishes,
Josh
