Branches of Peace: Yin Yoga & Meditation
January 6, 2019; 1pm – 4pm; Studio143, Scituate, MA
The practices of Yin Yoga and Yin Meditation offer a complementary way of cultivating greater peace in our lives. All too frequently, people approach their yoga and meditation practice with Yang energies of control and striving. They attempt to “tame” or “sedate” their minds and bodies by focusing their attention and restraining their thinking. This may have the effect of domesticating their minds, but it doesn’t necessarily develop greater peace and wisdom. In this workshop, I will invite you to take a lighter, kinder approach towards your practice, involving: 1) finding an appropriate Perch to rest upon, 2) cultivating Receptivity from that perch, 3) and exercising Permission to explore beyond and return to that perch.
The workshop is suitable for all levels and will consist of a 2-hour Yin Yoga sequence, 20-minute seated meditation, and time to reflect/journal on the practice. Bring a notebook and pen.
